Yearbook News

Parents, remember, that if you selected a privacy setting of “N” on your student’s enrollment card in August, then by state and federal law, the yearbook staff cannot publish your student’s photo or name. Please change all “N” privacy settings on official enrollment with the school registrar before December 15 to ensure that your student’s photo will appear in the yearbook.

The website for yearbook orders has now re-opened after final quantity submission deadline, and for a limited time, yearbook orders can once again be placed for the 2012 Cinco Ranch Panorama yearbook. Please go to the website at www.smart-pay.com to place your yearbook order. There are 400 copies remaining and those will be sold through the website first-come first-serve. Some options like cover name personalization are only available through the package purchase options, and will remain available only until the cover print deadline on February 2, 2012, while other purchase options are no longer available. Because of production deadlines with printing the yearbooks, parents and students are encouraged to place yearbook orders early in the school year to guarantee receiving a copy and access to all purchase options. The final date for online purchase is Friday, March 2, 2012 if above mentioned book quantities still remain. The site will close at midnight on that date. Please order as soon as possible to guarantee your copy. The Cinco Ranch Panorama yearbook is a 400 page, all-color, 9x11 sized hardcover themed book that is designed, written, and photographed by CRHS yearbook students in a journalism lab classroom. Students begin the design process in May of the previous school year and carry out the production process for 10 months. The 2012 yearbooks will be distributed to students who ordered a book during lunches and after school beginning May 15, 2012. If you have additional questions, please e-mail student publications adviser, Ed Larsen, at edwardlarsen@katyisd.org .

Heroes for Children Award presented to Melissa Mozer

Melissa

Austin- On September 16, 2011, Melissa Mozer of Katy was presented the Heroes of Children award by the State Board of Education. Mozer has been a volunteer for 12 years at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy ISD. She has served as an executive board member of the CRHS Athletic Booster Club and chaired the club's scholarship committee, a representative on the Katy PTA Council and has worked with Project Graduation for all four of her children. Mrs. Mozer also has been the "Popcorn Mom" for the last 10 years supporting the Cougar Commitment/POWER program, the Katy ISD drug awareness program that benefits all the high schools in the district. She is currently the Choir Booster Club board president, a member of the PTSA and Project Graduation boards, respectively.

The State Board of Education honors 15 volunteers from school districts across Texas with this award. The Heroes for Children honorees are selected by the State Board members and recognized for volunteering their time, talents and skills to help improve public schools in their communities. Each hero will also have their name engraved on a plague that is permanently displayed at TEA headquarters. The awards are given annually in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to helping provide each Texas student with a meaningful, positive learning experience in school.

CRHS PTSA Reflections 2011-2012

Judging is underway for the Cinco Ranch High School Reflections program.  Forty-two Cougar students were inspired to create works of art related to the theme “Diversity Means…”  Judges are evaluating the entries based on three criteria: interpretation of the theme, artistic merit and creativity, and mastery of the medium.  Cinco students submitted entries in the categories of visual arts, photography, literature, and film production.  The Reflections program also includes dance choreography and musical composition.  Students are encouraged to consider these areas as well for future Reflections contests.

CRHS PTSA Reflections Chairperson Cris Bowden would like to thank all the students who shared their creative work in the competition.  Top finishers will be moving to the next stage of Reflections with the Katy Council of PTAs.   Mrs. Bowden would like to extend a special thanks to the World Geography department for encouraging their students to enter Reflections.  For students who are planning ahead to next year, the 2012-2013 PTA Reflections theme will be: “The Magic of a Moment…”
