Safe Home Program
Commit
to . . .
COMMUNICATE,
SUPERVISE, ROLE MODEL
The Safe Home Program works!
Are you concerned about the use of alcohol and drugs amoung
our youth and the social acceptability of this use? Our
children must be able to feel fun does not mean drugs or
alcohol and that it is okay not to participate in their use.
If you would like to stand firm with other parents, please
sign and return the Safe Home Pledge Card available for
download on this page. Your name and phone number will be
listed with other Safe Home parents for the purpose of
contacting the other members to facilitate networking.
Safe Home Benefits
- Safe Home parents have access to a list of parents
supporting this concept, which is available through the
CRHS PTSA.
- Safe Home parents can feel comfortable having their
children attend parties and gatherings at a safe home
because you know parent supervision is a place within that
home.
- When you participate in this program you are
participating in your children's education about alcohol
and drugs and encouraging them to make the right choices.
As Safe Home parents we would ask you to agree to:
- Cooperate with schools, law enforcement, and young
people to create a healthy atmosphere in which the use of
alcohol and other drugs is no longer considered the
"norm".
- Support school and law enforcement policy forbidding the
use of alcohol and other drugs and encourage the use of
appropriate discipline in dealing with offenders.
- Set an example, coupled with love and discipline, that
reinforces your child's commitment to stay drug-free.
As a Host Parent:
- Call the parents of anyone possessing alcohol or drugs
appearing to be under the influence of either.
- Encourage "by invitation only" activities.
Never permit party crashers; use a guest list.
- Never leave the premises; be a visible host/hostess.
- Never retire until all guests have left.

The
History of Red Ribbon Week
In 1988, with Nancy
Reagan as Honorary Chairman, an eight-day RED RIBBON WEEK was
proclaimed by the Congress of the United States. Each year since
1988 the Red Ribbon Campaign has grown and now impacts millions of
Americans like no other drug prevention movement in history.
In schools in
particular, when everyone is wearing a RED RIBBON, this little piece
of satin carries the message that it is OK TO SAY NO. In 2002
National Red Ribbon Week is October 23 through October 31. Your
state or locality may observe a different week, but whatever the
date, we invite you to wear red.
