| What Is A Volunteer?
A volunteer is someone who donates their time for the benefit of students, teachers, campuses or KISD as a whole.
What Are Volunteer Hours?
Volunteer hours are any hours spent in work directly benefiting students, teachers, campuses or KISD, at home, at the campus or outside the district. This includes hours spent on campus, working in all the booster club activities, volunteering at athletic events, chaperoning field trips and booster club events, attending volunteer-related conferences and meetings, baby sitting for your neighbor who is volunteering, baking for hospitality events, and, all the time you spend on the phone coordinating those campus volunteer hours.
Why Do We Record Those Hours?
Recording those hours helps us evaluate the volunteer program at CRHS. Are we effective? Are we growing as the campus grows?
At the district and campus levels the VIPS program can qualify for state and national awards and grants. Each month KISD produces a list of the hours donated by volunteers at each of the six high schools, so let’s make our CRHS volunteer hours accurately reflect our commitment to our campus and the community.
How Do I Record My Hours?
1. Sign in and out at the welcome desk when you volunteer on campus.
2. Keep track of the hours you spend volunteering off campus, and then you can either write them in the volunteer book the next time you are at the school, or email them to the VIPS campus coordinator.
You can now download an oficial volunteer record form for easy tracking of your hours! Click here.
3. Some booster clubs and school organizations keep track of their own hours. These hours should also be given to the VIPS coordinator so they can be reported.
4. Volunteer hours are tallied each month; so if you are keeping track of those hours at home, please remember to turn them in to the VIPS coordinator at the end of each month.
5. Remember volunteer recognitions can only be awarded if we know who the volunteers are.
Cinco Ranch High School truly has some of the most wonderful volunteers in KISD who have donated many thousands of hours to our school. Thank you for all the work you do supporting and enriching our students’ education.
